COLUMBIA, MD — In honor of Gorillaz releasing their album Cracker Island today, let’s revisit their lengthy captivating concert at Merriweather Post Pavilion on Oct. 17, 2022.
The show had a hefty setlist of around 25 songs that featured some of their most notable tunes from their over 20 years of existence, like Rhinestone Eyes, Dirty Harry, 19-2000, Feel Good Inc. They also included songs off is this new album, like Cracker Island and New Gold, and some tunes that were unreleased at the time.

Not only was the energy on stage actually awe-inspiring, but the show featured those intricate and entertaining animations that the British band is so well-known for. Each song was paired with a different story, keeping the audience on their toes for what the visuals might be next.

As if the large band with three drummers, five background singers, two guitarists and lead singer Damon Alban was not enough, the Gorillaz even invited some featured artists from specific songs onto stage with them. This included opener EARTHGANG, Michelle Ndegwa, Fatoumata Diawara, Del The Funky Homosapien and more.
I know I say this about every show I have been to, but seeing the Gorillaz live changed my life. So much so, I am still thinking about it five months later. Maybe this has taken the crown for best show I have ever had the insane pleasure of seeing.
