SILVER SPRING, MD — Mk.gee headlined The Fillmore Silver Spring with a dream-like performance on September 23, 2024.
The night started off with an electrifying performance from sees00000, who set the tone with his blend of hip-hop and experimental electronic music. As a new listener to his sound, I was immediately drawn to the bass. The sound permeated my body, keeping me engaged throughout the performance. The stage was shrouded in smoke, with beams of light creating an atmospheric backdrop that complemented his sound.
When Mk.gee got on stage, the energy shifted to a more intimate vibe, starting off with “Dream Police.” His voice and guitar echoed beautifully throughout the smoky venue.
Some preeminent moments of the show included Mk.gee playing “DNM” four times in a row, with each version more energetic than the last. The invigorating guitar solo in “Lonely Fight,” with the guitar producing saxophone-like tones, captivated the audience. The spasmodic eagle screeches he played while engaging with the audience offered both a comedic reprieve and gave more insight beyond Mk.gee as an artist, showcasing his interest in connecting with his fans.
Mk.gee played “DNM” for the 5th and last time, which was a brilliant way to close out the show. Mk.gee delivered a memorable performance that showcased his amazing stage presence and unique and soulful sound.
